Zelkova
Zelkova serrata ‘Village Green’ and ‘Green Vase’ are dependable shade trees for the urban environment. One of the few shade trees to have a vase shape, it was originally used as a replacement for the American Elm.
Both have a small, glossy elm-like leaf, although ‘Green Vase’ is smaller and therefore a finer textured tree than ‘Village Green’. The bark becomes mottled with age, adding interest both in summer and winter. These trees are great for lawns, street trees, parks, and larger areas. Both have a unique reddish-orange fall color in November.
